Description

hiwood

Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Sol&Luna, this collaboration is born, combining the interest in leather and wood, two top-notch raw materials used in various fields of Art, Architecture and Design.

For this reason, both teams have thought of working side by side from the most creative phase, trying to carry out a combination of the two materials from an artistic and contemporary point of view. The geometrical concept of the pieces that form the base of the design at hiwood. process mix with the most traditional leather craftsmanship, from obtaining it to sewing each edge. In this way, a unique collaboration that advocates Art and Crafts as a projection of exceptional design is born.

THE COLLECTION

It all started with the interest of the two firms in creating a collaboration where craftsmanship would become the basis for an exceptional design close to the world of Art.

From an architectural sense of space that works with the contrast of empty and full in conjunction with the shadows that its edges throw on the canvas, two different series are developed where leather turns out to be the protagonist in honour of the many years-long work of the team of Sol&Luna.

Its manufacture begins in Paraguay, where the leather is worked in the most traditional way for the entire catalogue of products that Sol&Luna has developed during these years.

Subsequently, each of the parts that make up the final piece is lined, giving the name to the two series of this incredible collection: Fragmentos and Surcos. This is a pure analogy of craftsmanship and imperfection.

Fragmentos

In this series, the artists aim to evoke compositional tension based on natural forms.

Any terrain by its very nature evolves over time until it changes its own appearance. This natural fragmentation gives rise to the creation of unique pieces whose disorder becomes art through the use of colour and leather.

Surcos

In this case, based on the previous series, the focus is on establishing an extreme dialogue between the present and future while using leather as the core material of a work of art. The raw material, worked as the skin of the disjointed pieces of wood, makes it possible to create a crack that gives rise to observing the path that this collection suggests and is none other than the fusion of contemporary design and the most traditional craftsmanship.
